In April 2013 the SSU Foundation organized a study tour to Montréal, Canada.
Montréal is well-known to be dynamic, cosmopolitan and friendly and is said to have a unique vibe. All year round Montréal is vibrant with festivals, exhibitions, sports events and an active nightlife.
With a population of 3.6 million, Montréal is the largest city in the province of Québec and the second largest city in Canada. It is also the second largest French speaking city in the world, but it is well-known for it’s biligual population: over fifty percent speaks both French and English.
The Greater Montréal area is recognised as one of the major innovation leaders in North America, due to the many high-tech clusters, creativity and sustainability projects, higher education institutes and supporting infrastructure.
McGill University is one of the most distinguished universities in Canada, the city’s research centres are internationally recognised for their work, and the area holds many industry clusters e.g. for aerospace, clean technologies and life sciences.
