Vancouver, indirectly named after the Dutch city of Coevorden, is the third-largest metropolitan area in Canada. The city is located amidst the Pacific coastline and broad mountain ranges, making it a fibrant city. Vancouver is known for the Olympic Winter Games of 2010 and is sometimes called the “Hollywood of the North”.
Vancouver is especially known for its sustainable character. As of right now, Vancouver has the smallest carbon footprint of all North American cities and has the ambition to become the greenest city in the world in 2020. The combination of sustainability, a knowledge-based economy, and the high degree of liveability provided the SSU Foundation the reason to make a visit to the city of the future: Vancouver.
