Supporting parties

The SSU aims to set up an educational experience for our participants every year. We could not achieve the excellence of the current programme without our sponsors, our Recommending Committee and our Advisory Counsel.

The SSU Programme 2018 was sponsored by:

sponsor - ufonds

The board is supported in their role by both the Recommending Committee and the Advisory Counsel. The main role of the Recommending Committee is their support of our organisation and the programme that the SSU provides each year. Previous year, the Recommending Committee of the SSU programme consisted of:

Prof. Dr. Marko P. Hekkert

Utrecht University

Prof. Dr. Marko P. Hekkert

Utrecht University

Prof. Dr. Marko Hekkert focuses on the dynamics of emerging technological fields. Those technological fields that contribute to a more sustainable society, like renewable energy technologies, are highlighted in most of his studies. Theoretically he aims to contribute to the innovation systems perspective by improving our knowledge on the way in which emerging innovation systems develop and the type of micro mechanisms (power, lobby, research, strategy, expectations, resources) that determine the dynamics of innovation systems.

Mrs. Prof. Dr. Ellen H.M. Moors

Utrecht University

As a Professor of Sustainable Innovation, Ellen Moors focuses on the dynamics and governance of emerging technologies in science-based sectors. Responsible innovation is an important topic in her work, taking into account societal challenges, values, and welfare issues to ensure more sustainable innovations taking place. In her work, she has a theoretical focus on user innovations and user-producer interactions. The courses she teaches highlight management of life science innovations and sustainable development.

Maarten van der Boogaard

Open Innovation Leader at Philips Personal Health

As Open Innovation Leader for Philips Personal Health, Maarten van den Boogaard is experienced in all kinds of collaborations that support Philips’ innovation teams and businesses. Among these are collaborations with universities in which groups of students independently execute cases based on an initial briefing by Philips teams. According to Maarten, the cases performed by participants of the SSU Foundation have proven to be an enrichment for the projects teams. As the participants always highly enjoy the interesting cases as well, we are very happy to continuously work with Philips and benefit from Maarten’s support in the committee.

Furthermore, the SSU works closely together with their Advisory Counsel. The Advisory Council is selected from former board members of the SSU Foundation with whom the board periodically consults to optimise decisions. During the academic year 2019-2020, the Advisory Counsel consists of:
